About the Role:
As a Journeyman Electrician at Oceanvolt, you’ll lead a crew of apprentices, ensuring the high‑quality installation of residential solar systems with guidance from the Head of Project Management. This role is hands-on and leadership‑focused, requiring a strong commitment to safety, craftsmanship, and doing the job right the first time. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, supports the growth of their team, and is aligned with delivering reliable, high‑quality clean energy solutions to homeowners.
This position requires performing repetitious duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
● Install, wire, commission, and test residential solar PV and electrical systems according to design, code, safety, and quality standards across rooftops, attics, crawl spaces, garages, and exterior environments.
● Lead apprentices on site, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard while meeting project timelines.
● Take full ownership of a work van ensuring tools, materials, and equipment are clean, organized, protected, and job‑ready at all times.
● Maintain quality control and resolve on‑site challenges while communicating clearly with the Project Manager and delivering excellent customer service to homeowners.
● Accurately track materials, submit daily paperwork, and time sheets using mobile devices and required software.
● Contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and productive team culture by building strong working relationships and supporting a positive job‑site environment.
Who are we looking for?
Experience Requirements:
● You are fluent in English.
● You are a Red Seal Electrician.
● You have a valid class 5 Drivers License.
● You are comfortable working at heights, on different pitched roofs, climbing ladders, and in varying weather conditions.
● You have experience in residential electrical work.
Willingness Requirements:
● Willing and flexible to work varying hours and locations Monday to Friday.
● Willing to work outside in all weather conditions.
● Willing and able to lift 50 lbs or more, multiple times per day.
● Willing to travel to locations all over Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.
Additional certifications/experience that is not required but would be considered a plus:
● First Aid.
● Fall Arrest (if not already obtained, training will be provided upon employment).
● Experience in the solar industry.
● Experience in roof work, building construction process, or carpentry.
● Knowledge of how a home is built.

● Time Management: You organize workloads, guiding a crew efficiently and keep installations on track from start to finish.
Up to 40 hours/week depending on weather and volume of work.

About the role:
The Apprentice will play a critical role in company growth as Oceanvolt looks to expand their installation team. They will be performing electrical work as well as installing photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery storage systems, EV chargers, and service upgrades on homes.
Duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Assemble and install electrical equipment as per design, safety, and code requirements.
Work on all types of pitched or flat residential roof tops, in attics, crawl spaces, garages and on the exterior of homes.
Work efficiently and proficiently with the Installation Lead to ensure project deadlines are met.
Assure quality control and safety standards are always met.
Maintain a work trailer & organize material.
Maintain and ensure operational readiness of company-provided tools; prevent damage.
Promptly and accurately submit time sheets daily.
Who are we looking for?
Experience requirements:
You are registered as an Electrical Apprentice through SkilledTradesBC.
You have a valid class 5 Drivers License.
You have experience working with power tools (impact drill, skill saw).
You are comfortable working at heights and climbing ladders.
You are fluent in English.
You have a good understanding of the Canadian Electric Code.
